does anyone know where to find a face spanner wrench to unscrew caps off of a trim cylinder pretty sure the size is 1 1/2 inch. any other ideas for removing these caps?
Maybe harbor freight or make one out of a large wrench (but that would take some time). If you have a welder or know someone you might be able to weld one up.
'For use with Groco strainers and deck plates with holes up to 7" apart. Cast bronze with 1/4" dia. stainless steel pins on one side and 5/16" pins on the other. Made in USA. Model SW2531.'

Google 'face spanner wrench'. They're readily available. I bought an Armstrong wrench off Amazon a few years ago when I rebuilt the trim unit on a 175 Johnson. I did have to use a grinder chucked in a drill to modify the tool a bit for my needs. That was pretty easy to do, and it worked.
Might be easier to take the cylinder to a machine shop and have them remove and reinstall the cap(s).
