Pulled the top cover and there doesn’t appear to be any water in the drive oil. Guess I’m pulling it off tomorrow and checking it out. I’ll call sei as well. This is fresh out of the box so I’m hoping I did something dumb and can fix it myselfthe jokester in me would say "built in drive shower"
the mechanic in me says.....oooh, thats going to cost you
I was advised to add some rtv sealant around the rubber stopper edge and reinstall the top cap By the tech guy at sei. Looks like it should be good to go. Thanks.WHOA.
There is a cooling water passageway there. Has absolutely nothing to do with the oring that holds in oil and out water. If the rubber fits loose, it leaks - until one day it doesn't. They seem to stop on their own. There is no reason to do anything at all about it. Certainly not adding sillycone.
That water passage has no o-ring or seal, just the rubber dam. What does it hurt if it seeps water out? And my Mercruiser Gen 2 did it for the first week after I rebuilt the drive. Not the first one I have seen do that.Doesnt say much for SEI quality i would figure they pressure test both oil and water passages before they ship
To prove it doesnt leak. bottom line water isnt supposed to leak there, no it isnt going to be an issue if it weeps, what if it gets worse and diverts wster meant to for cooiling. That water passage has no o-ring or seal, just the rubber dam. What does it hurt if it seeps water out? And my Mercruiser Gen 2 did it for the first week after I rebuilt the drive. Not the first one I have seen do that.
I don't think anyone would pressure test an open cooling system in the drive. To prove what?
