noticed this this morning. oil leaking from the lower portion of the outdrive, there's a small hole in the drive that the oil is leaking from, it isn't a threaded hole so it's not like there's a a screw or plug missing. I'm new to outboards so I'm kind of clueless. if it helps this is a 1971 johnson seahorse 25 horse 2 stroke.

Somebody smarter than me will come along, but I would say that's not "ok". The hole is a relief port for water to escape if it's at all like my Evinrude.

thats what I thought the hole was as well, I just can't figure out why oil is dripping out of it, my guess is it's trickling down from somewhere higher up in the engine.

Loosen the large gearcase slotted drain screw to compare what coloration the gearlube is so as to compare it.

What I see simply looks like excess unburnt fuel/oil mixture that is draining down thru the long soot/carbon lined interior of the exhaust housing..... a frequent happening.
