well I did it! I ordered a new mercury 25 hp short shaft tiller steer with elec start manual trim/tilt. Its supposed to be a 2022 model, and I went with the platnum warranty for a total of 8 yrs full coverage. I cant expect it to arrive until almost christmas. Now I need to focus on getting a good deal on a new prop for it. The fishing store wanted over 150 bucks. any thoughts?
What kind of prop are you looking for? A SS upgrade? If you know the pitch, google it. There are several discount sources, including right here.

I have no idea what the pitch should be. My friend who owns more boats than me says to get a SS. But he runs larger boats in saltwater near the NC coast. Never bought a prop before all my prev engines already had one and I never changed it. I can tell you its 14ft v hull, weight is approx 170, Engine 157. My Queen and I including gear around 5-600. total approx 8-900 lbs.

Go to merc's prop selector and enter all your data. That will give you a good start. Personally, I prefer SS as well.

None of usual online dealers have any 20-25-30 hp motors in stock. Hopefully you get it sooner.
Enjoy the new motor.
