Where is the gear the linkage on this model?

I have to drop the lower unit and I know I have to disconnect the linkage before or during the drop.

Isolate the battery, remove the shift rod pin (under the lower carb)......it may help to remove the starter and have the LU in reverse before attempting though.....then remove the LU bolts.....
