where does this hose go? 71 merc 800

I dont have a manual yet... heres two pics.
its the one with the brown fitting, under the hose with writing.

Looks like a fuel line? Hard to tell. You should have 2 fuel pumps with 2 fittings each.

Is that old hose connected to the fuel connector?

Is the current fuel hose bypassing that connector and passing thru the cowling and connected straight to the primer pump?

If so, then it appears someone did not remove the old hose and connector when they installed the new fuel line.
