where does this grommet go?

HI guys. I got a 97 40 hp with a jet unit. had my lower engine cover off and noticed this grommet between the drive shaft and mid section. pulled it out and it's a tappered grommet but i'm not positive where it goes? i think i found it on this parts break down ( http://www.**********/parts/search/...T HOUSING & STERN & SWIVEL BRACKET/parts.html ) as number 4 but the parts break down doesn't show forsure where or how it goes in there??? thanks for any help. ps i have my lower unit off so i can figure out where it goes.

There's a long story behind the name. It started back in 1966 when I first got into the marine business in a small town and till this day the people who know me still call me that. And I have to admit, I'm a "Boobie" Man.

Its an e40reuc. I think its number 4 in the exhaust housing parts break down on **********. That's where the link went to but I guess they block it

it's boatsdotnet that i have been using any iboats keeps sensoring out but ya know i couldn't find parts breakdowns on thier site..... the grommet/seal is flat on one side and tappered on the other.i think it either goes into the top of the mid section or the bottom of the powerhead output. thanks for the help guys.

According to the parts diagrams it looks like it could go under the p/h in the d/s area. Just a guess.

I found where it went. It went right below the top if the exhaust housing.
