Where does 1957 Mark 55 water exit from Powerhead??

I just ran my Mark 55 for the first time other day and got quite the thrill. Sure felt like 26-28 mph on my Feather Craft Ranger with only me in the boat. These motors sure like RPM. How much water should be coming out at the exhaust exit just under the powerhead at the top of the lower leg at idle and at speed? Is this where the water exits from the powerhead? It just doesn't seem like much. Thanks.

Hey Rocket,<br /><br />Some water will exit through the exhaust relief ports just under the powerhead on the lower unit, but most is expelled at the prop.... You should just see some "Spitting" from those holes...

Thanks for the quick reply. I've got the lower unit disassembled and see not holes around the prop area. Would the water come out of the exhaust at the lower skeg located at the prop? I'm confused as to where the water exits out of this motor. I ran this motor for three hours the other day and once I got the carbs set it ran great. I never heard any preignition etc. due to overheating. It's also great on gas especially with the price of gas today. I live in CT so the water temp up here is still about 55 degrees so this may have helped to keep it cool. Hope I didn't ruin anyting.
