Dumb I know, I inheritated a 1980 Merc outboard. Took it out today, all was good the hydrolic lift was working perfect, then when it was time to come in, it would not lift. A few guys at the boat lauch figured it was out of fluid. We all looked everywhere to add this fluid. Anyone? I am dumbfounded.

First ck the manual release valve on the pump it must be all the way out ( counter clockwise) then on the side of the pump body on the corner you will see a indentation with a flathed screw in it remove the screw and fill till level with the screw hole, must be full with the engine up.

What size motor? Some of those older motors used SAE 30 oil, at least my 83 150 did.
