I finally got the thermostat cover removed.

However in the process of removing the cover I had to torch the plastic cover (FUN!) and some of the debris fell in the 2 ports in the below photo where the arrow is pointing.

Where do these ports go? Back into the cylinder block?

If some of the plastic fell in there should I remove the back of the cylinder block and clean it out?

Thanks

OK after doing some research I think I know the answer.

The area where the t stat is located is part of the raw water cooling system. Any debris that feel into the ports will be flushed out the motor once it is restarted as long as the particle size is small enough to pass through.

How did I do?:D
