I have a 93 pro mag 16.1 . Gas gauge doesn‘t work . Gauge is good , no signal from the sending unit . How do I access the sending unit ? Is there a access hole someplace?
thanks ….

If you have poked around and found the gas tank , the sending unit is on / in it . No access port ? Time to break out the saw or pay attention to your approx mileage and carry a extra fuel tank .

I have been looking for 3 weeks . The tank with the filler ,vent and pickup are all accessible. The vent hose was cracked and leaking ,fixed that . There has to be a access without cutting into the floor . No room to look under the floor ,what looks like access is just a plastic plate over carpet . Frustrated .

Considered a extra gallon tank . I did use a hose and measure the wetness for some measure of volume.

Fuel gauge sender will be near where the hoses attach to the fuel tank. Follow the hoses to tank and you'll find the sender.

The sending unit is way under the floor . There is a black plastic plate on the floor . Upon inspection there is carpet, glued down . There is a hole in the floor but cutting the carpet , the hole is filled with foam . I hate using a outboard tank but until I figure it out ,it’s 6 gallons per trip. I did leave a gallon or two in the boat tank for back up . By the way , the boat tank has a leak . I suspect the sending unit gasket .

so educate me here, I was under the impression the fuel sending unit is in the gas tank and mounted to the top. I thought that's the only place it can be? Now getting to it might be not as easy.

Correct. But the top of the tank where the sending unit is , is way under the floor . I have access to all the fuel lines , but not the sending unit. I can not put more than a few gallons of gas in the onboard tank without leakage . Some tell me I have to remove the floor to get to the top of the tank. Great design by smokercraft !

Buy an access plate, cut hole in floor to fit, replace sender and install access plate although you probably have bigger problems if the tank is leaking..

There is some sort of access plate starboard and port side . I must cut carpet and a couple inches of foam just to see what’s underneath the access plate .I figure it must e for the sending unit ,but I’ve figured wrong before . Hate to star tearing into something without knowing what is where .

If your tank is leaking , it must be cut out and replaced. Not just a Smokercraft issue , Grady White among other " name " builders are notorious for having to cut out the floor to get to the tank . Should be plywood under the carpet , not a big deal to replace and re carpet .
