when is gas old?

OK, I have boat that sits a lot. Only use it for Salmon fishing Lake Michigan. I have two other boats and use them more often. The "big" boat might sit for months with out being used and for that matter so does the truck I pull it with. Don't need the truck to pull other two boats. So, when is gas old? One month, 2 months, 3,4,5,6? If I have gas with alcohol and use marine stab does that help the fuel stay "fresh" longer?

normal gasoline has a strong carbon backbone that allows it to remain around for about 6-9 months without problems. ethanol doesnt have the long/strong carbon chain and starts to break down in 30 days. Stabil will help the ethanol a bit and get you up to about 6 months.

temperature, etc. will have an effect on breakdown times.

maybe you need to go fishing more often?

Thanks for the reply, lol. I do go fishing a LOT (according to my wife anyway). Just not always for Salmon.

not for years. I did many years ago. I stay away from door county on weekends to avoid the crowded boats. Used to fish sturgeon bay bank reef too but don't like the crowds of stupid boat handlers that think they own the lake.

You still got a Cruisers? I was asst operations manager there for a few years.

We like it here, but gotta tell ya on my few trips through TN it is a beautiful state.

im about to go out with 2 month old 2 stroke gas, no concerned in the least.
