wheel bearings for Cox trailer

Hello people, I'm in the process of purchasing my 1st boat and will be towing some 350 miles. The trailer is a 1200 lbs 1987 single axel Cox trailer. The trailer hasn't seen salt but I'm thinking I might want to replace the wheel bearings on site before the tow. Does anyone know the cup and cone sizes for this trailer? I know its a long shot but I'm trying anyway.

Maybe someone can find the specs, but if the plan is to put new bearings in, I would suggest repack the ones in it now. If you can spin the wheel and it's smooth the bearings are good.

Bring along a tub of grease and repack them

Most likely with a 1200 lb trailer I would guess 1 inch axle

My intention was to repack the bearings before the tow, BUT! I wanted an additional set for that "just in case" I will spin the wheel, good suggestion thanks for the reply

When you repack, then read the part numbers off the existing wheel bearing and buy the same

Yea, I'm trying to avoid that, I want an additional set before I leave to pick up the boat

There’s a few common bearing hub assemblies. You could buy the ones that it might be and return the ones that don’t fit. You would only need to buy a few. Walmart, tractor supply or pretty much any auto parts store will have them on the shelf, so it’s not out of the way to do such a thing

That's a great idea but there are so many variations of cup and cones, BUT I might be able to get several sets from a supplier that specializes in boat trailer axels as to what size it may be including some larger and some smaller

There are about 3 sets for the lightweight axles. Your best bet is to pack what you have, and then buy spares you need

As alldodge stated, it's probably one inch spindles if it's 1200 pound trailer. The bearing numbers on my wave runner trailer are L44649 (1 inch spindles). The seal number is 12437. No guarantee these will fit. The only way to really know is to get the numbers off of the current parts. Sorry, I don't have the race numbers.
