How do you put those inside seals in so they don't get bunged up? Is there a trick to seating them? Thanks. Mark

I use a peice of Pipe of roughly the same diameter and tap them in carefully. Works well for me.

I will take that hammer technique one step further-

Turn said socket upside down with the flat ( ish) face towards the seal.

Insert a socket extension into the socket through the wrong way.

You now have a way to keep the hammer blows a little more evenly centered:)

- NOW grab the brass manual impact enhancer and tap away....

Re: Wheel bearing seals

Thanks for the ideas. I didn't have a section of pipe that fit nor did I have a big enough socket. I did have a block of wood that was the end of a 4X4 that I had cut off. I just set it on top of the seal and tapped it in. It worked great.
