Ill admit to using them before, but I dont catch any more fish with Senkos than I do with a regular worms with the tail cut off. I think they are very much over priced, and over rated.

Hey LD .. One thing to note is that Yamamoto(Gary) "Senko" and Kinami (Derek Yamamoto/Gary's son) "Flash" are the same bait/same mould/same plastic ... but Kinami are much cheaper..

marketing BS ;)

.. check it out once when you're at a store and they have both there.

use the Yum-Dinger worm here..

I have sooooooooo many plastics, I just modify them how I want them, I dont think that a bass has any idea as to what the brand is when he sees it twiching along. I do like the Power bait and salt impregnated worms though, I think they hold them longer. When I was out with my wife, I was showing her how to worm fish. I would get a pick up and say "look at the line", Many times they would hold on to it for as much as ten seconds or more before I eventually set the hook.

I'll tell ya what. If I had to chose one worm to fish an entire season with,, It would be a senko.

its about the sink rate, so they say. I like sluggos just as well. and those wave worms. if I had to fish the entire season with one senko, my season would be over after one fish. or one hang-up. they're just not very durable.

I don't mean just one single worm, I mean if I had to choose a brand for the entire season.

senko are real easy to fish. just cast out and wait. you don't have to give them any action. if you don't get a hit cast to a different spot and wait some more. when them senkos sink they wobble and with 15# test and a 5/0 hook (owner) they sink at 1 foot a second (tested in a pool). i'll tell people though,, color really does matter.

cwilt good post, They always seem to drop in a different way each time ya twitch em. I normally use a 3/0 gamagatsu hook. The blue and black laminate seems to work well in most of the places I fish around here. Watermelon is always a good choice too. Bottom line is,, In my experience they do seem to work better than other soft plastics for me. You will have guys with ten's of thousands tied up in boats and motors and they gripe about an extra dollar for a bait that works. Makes no sense??

Not sure I understand the ten second thing either, must loose a lot of fish or kill a lot of em

Not really. There are seven in a bag with Kinamis and ten in a bag with senkos. I haven't divided it out, but they are both close to the same price.

Bob.. look at the packaging quantities/size relationship also..

I haven't looked at 'em since the Yamamotos first put the "Kinami" brand on the market but, you should still see a difference in pricing for the same product per size..

edit addition: .. its going to depend where you purchase 'em also.

same is same and less expensive is.. less expensive.. (( Pardon me must seem a tad anal .. ))

I don't think that all straight tailed worms are the same. The action varies a lot! Even though you may only notice slight differences the fish know what they like. All of these worms have different densitys and diferent sink rates. I find "senkos", "kinamis", work well when the bass seem to be suspended in the middle of bodies are water and are not relative to much on shore structure. I think that the slow sinking rate makes them an easy target and fish don't have to work hard to get them.

i have tried alot of different worms too. i like the senkos the best. they seem more dense heavier are easier to cast unweighted and i feel you get more hits. plus when the fish grabs it he actually tries to eat it.

Re: Whats with this new found love affair with Senkos?

unless they got some kind of clearance or promotion going kenami will generally be less per worm than senko.

Have you tried wave worms? they're more durable, at least.

I haven't got around to trying this, but i heard about a trick for using o-rings to wacky-rig senkos without putting the hook thru-'em. supposed to keep 'em from tearing up too bad.

They are not my favorite, but I really like them. Last spring I started out messing with them. They are really fun. like the Kinami the best. I have tried many diffrent brands. The 5" seems to work best for me. A lot very not only in size, but weight. That all makes the diffrence in the presintation.
