What's this white wire not doing?

Just got this boat. Looking trough it before I go out too far. I ran it once. Motor seems to run good. What is this white wire suppose to do. It's not hooked up. I think it's a VRO but it has been disconnected.

It's a 140 evinrude. 1992 I think.

Find a wiring diagram for your motor and find out where #5 on the terminal strip goes to that is where the white should be from. Purple would go to the VRO

Looks like it broke off of the light green butt splice.

I know where it is suppose to be spliced, I just dont know what it does, if I need to put it back

Post model number. Found on transom clamp or silver plug near lift ring.
