I have a 2019 Mercury 60hp Command Thrust and I noticed this missing tube/hose after pulling the boat for the season. It appears that the hose got torn off, but how long should the hose be, what is it for (vent?) and where does it terminate?

Thanks so much,

I'd wager that's the speedo pickup as I seem to recall both the Force and the Honda having that right about the same spot.

Provided I'm right, and there's a decent amount of doubt there, should be a section of hose up on the transom somewhere it connects to. Just splice in the section you need to replace....or leave it disconnected and use GPS on a mobile device or depth finder/fishfinder/plotter.

Correct that would be a hose for an old style speedometer.----Many folks today use a GPS signal for speed or their phone.-----How times have changed.

They do. While failing to understand the difference between speed through the water and speed between two points in space. Across ground if you will.

An airline pilot will never ever use GPS speed when taking off or landing. He will use the old style pitot tube system. Fancified with electronics to make it more accurate. Speed through the air (like speed through water to some) is much more important.
