what's this button?

just bought a 19' grady white tournament 195, there's a button mounted on the transom in the very back of the boat, behind the batteries, very obscure location, i have know idea what it's for any ideas??? the wires seem to go towards the front of the boat.

looks like some kind of reset button for a circuit

That looks like an ignition overload circuit. In the event you short something due to grounding the +/-, you push the red button to reset the switch.
