The Admiral has been on a cleaning-out kick lately. Last week she collected a bunch of electronics (computers, phones, etc) to take for recycling. She brought me my old MacBook and asked if I still wanted to keep it? I took a quick look and said "yes . . ."

My new Macbook (left) is the pure 64-bit OS, whereas the older one (right) still runs some 32-bit apps, including my web authoring App "iWeb".

I've been like a kid on Christmas morning with the thing. Looking through my old stuff, and even did some updating on my web site ( www.tpenfield.com ) using the iWeb app.

Looks like I'll keep the old computer for a while . . . at least until I find/get a suitable pure 64-bit replacement for iWeb and maybe a few other 'old' Apps.

Also 'found' my Apple watch . . . got it for Christmas a few years ago and only wore it a few times. It is like having new things again.

Meanwhile, I have used the old computer and the iWeb software to update my websites, adding a site for the Cruisers 338.

I am a firm believer in not getting rid of any thing that might be useful someday. (my wife defines it as being a hoarder) I recently found several 17 year old Dell laptops at a garage sale for 15 bucks each, talked him down to two for twenty. Wiped the hard drives an installed Linux and they do about everything I need for day by day use. Keep one upstairs on the lunch counter and one in the den. Basically only use my office computer for financial stuff due to security issues with Firefox.

The Admiral found a few more . . . but I think these are headed to recycling after data purge.

I recently just re vamped my fiance's old HP 15 laptop from ~2012 so she could have a spare. She quit using it after the local IT repair place told her it was unrepairable. This laptop is old enough to actually have service access panels to the HDD and memory.. I put a $20 SSD in it and a fresh copy of Windows 10 and it's as fast as a budget laptop from 2022.
