Whats more common to sink a boat? Bad bellow or transom seal.....

I would pull the motor/drive even if he doesn't want to fix the transom. That is the only money that he is going to get out of it.

+1
Or sell it as a project.
It won't be the transom alone though. The mounts and stringers are rotten if the transom is mush.

IMO whoever sold him the motor and installed it would surely have seen the rotten state of things. You make sure the boat is solid before throwing another $4000 into it.
Now if he pulled it and bought another motor he is responsible for his own misfortune.
That silicone on the transom is a huge clue to what is going on inside.

I never said to pull the motor. I was just saying to make sure it's taken care of. Looks like it is, good for you. Now for either fixing it or scrapping it. A shop is going to cost thousands, a home repair will cost a lot less, with proper help from us here.

I didn't mean to offend anyone on here....The previous owner absolutely knew what was going on IMO, unfortunately, his son was super excited to get a boat and I wish he would of called me to look it over with him when he bought it.....it was never even put in the water when he looked at it.

Now I wonder if I can find a good boat with a blown engine to put this motor in and have another boat....My fiance would love me even more....I bet

I was either going to buy a boat this season or a Harley Davidson Street Glide, she told me to buy a boat instead(less dangerous-depending on how you look at it) one thing lead to another and I am on my 5th boat so far this season, but I think my current trophy is going to be the keeper, along with the ranger bass boat I got a screaming deal on.

Next thing you know, you'll have a lot full of for sale. New business. And it keeps you out of trouble, all to once.
