What's leaking now!

I have a 1967 Evinrude 40HP. Model # 40773E. I got done fishing yesterday, trailered the boat, got out make a few adjustments and foamy oil was coming from a small hole(the hole is suppose to be there)under the cavitation plate. I change the lower unit prop seal this spring. I opened the drain plug on the lower unit and oil, no water came out. So what is leaking now?

Perhaps nothing. I don't know your motor but if that hole leads to the exhaust chamber what you have is unburned oil mixed with cooling water from the engine as a reault of combustion and perfectly normal.

This is the 2nd time boating with the replaced lower unit prop shaft seal. I did the same thing this time as last and never noticed it before. What happened this time?

if you winterized your boat and you are using it the first time i would say it is normal.<br />the fogging oil will come out the exhaust.<br />if you have it running for a while say 30 min or so and the stuff keeps comming out you may be running rich. check your plugs for exesive carbon build up ore very oily plugs.<br /><br />reeldutch
