What're these things for?

I am rebuilding the console panel for my recently acquired Montego 19. Does anyone know what the keyhole shaped things are for? I have taken them off and kept them, though the plastic standoffs are crumbling. The main switch panel goes in the rectangular hole, and the crank for the swing keel goes through the round hole.

Yep, they are brackets for beer can holders..or whatever else you like to drink..

Well that could be what they are for, but there was no such ladder or step on the boat when I bought it. It is 40 years old. Not sure that 1/2" plywood should be supporting a step, but maybe a retainer for a ladder/step that rests on the floor. I'm going to leave them off for now.

I believe it was for a ladder. Probably to access the fore deck..
