Re: what yr evinrude??

The first #, 15016, belongs to a 15HP 1956 Evinrude .

Howdy, WSG.

Welcome to the board.

Model 15016 is a 1956 15HP.

Set points at .020,
Champion J6C plugs gapped at .030

Correct fuel mix is 24:1, 87 octane unleaded regular and TCW-3 outboard oil. That is 1 quart oil to 6 gallns gas.

Great engine. Good luck. :)

Re: what yr evinrude??

You have a 1956 15hp Evinrude, not a 18hp.

Use Champion J4C or J6C s/plugs, set the gap to .030 . The J6C usually give a better idle.

Points set to .020 on the high portion of the cam lobe. A fuel mixtuire of 24/1 would be recommended (1qt of 50/1 oil to 6gal of gas). A octane rating of 87 will be fine.

Use "HiVis" gear lube.

Zoooowwwieee! That JB is fast isn't he.... or was it Ezeke? Got me coming in last!

Re: what yr evinrude??

Probably because it fit. My 28hp used to have a 40hp cover.
Match the serial number on the transom clamp to the one on the quarter sized silver disk welsh plug on the engine block and you can be sure.
