what year is this engine?

Just bought a used 8 hp. Johnson short shaft. Looking for the year serial number is C8186721, model number JBRCRM. Any help would be appreciated. The Techdoctor.

Welcome to the forum, assuming that the "B" is actually an 8 in your model#. Your motor would be a 1984 8hp w rope start

Yes CR = 1984. "Everybody" misreads the 8 (for 8hp) as a B
