I tried looking it up using the johnson chart but it doesnt make sense at all to me.

Make sure you disable VRO and use pre-mix... the VRO going out can kill the engine before you get any indication.
Just bought a hull for my 1990 150 from a guy who's VRO on a 1997 130 quit and he blew the power head.
