What year is my motor?

When I bought the boat last fall I was told the Yamaha 50 hp motor was a 1991. I didn't know any better and took him at his word. As near as I can figure now it is actually a 1988. Here is the data plate from the motor. Am I right, is it a 1988?

Yep, I read that as a 1988 50 hp long shaft.
