What year is my motor?

I have an 80's black max 200 with a serial number of oa113769. I cant seem to find out what year the motor is. Anyone out there have any idea? Thanks

wonder why it is so hard to figure out the years on mercury motors..I just got a 40hp...#6140204 Could someone please help with the year...thanks

Did you folks look up the serial number on the Maxrules.com web site? They have a model year guide. You look up the HP and configuration (inline or V), find the group that contains your serial number, and it gives the year.

The 200 was built in late 1985

I could not figure out the 0A in the serial number. I would also like to know the correct way the water pump goes together. I never did get directions in the box it came in, and did not know the year to purchase the manual for the motor.

Ingy, The waterpump repair procedure is common on most Mercs. However, you should get a proper Merc Service Manual, for any model-specific other repairs you might need to make.

Laddies said it was a 1985 Merc.
