What year is my Mercury Outboard?

I used the web pages in the link sticky, but they didn't work for me.

My Serial # is 08361266

Can anyone help me?

Are you in Australia? If not, the '08' is probably '0B'.

If it is 0B361266, 1988.

If the 8 is a B, then it's a 3 cylinder 90 horsepower, 1988.

If it is a (B) Then like they said above it would be a 1988 MERCURY 90 ELPTO Model number 1090412BD
And the engine Manufacture Date was: 04/29/1988
The Service manual part number from mercury is 90-136452 That covers engine sizes 70/75/80/90 3 CYL (1987 - 1993) and 100/115 4 CYL (1988 - 1993)

Where else do you get service like this.

It a 200hp motor. And I'm in the US

The closest I came was 0G361266. That shows as a 150hp (same engine block as a 200) 1996, EFI engine....

So, you're making it difficult for us.... Tell us more about the engine.

it's a 1988 200 hp either longshaft or extra long shaft


"My Serial # is 08361266'' - you have too many numbers there - but i can tell you the 8 is really a B they just look like that


so your serial is

OB 361266 - 1988- 200hp and only you will know if it's a long or extra long shaft .

Sorry Verado, but that shows up as a 90 hp....

However, if the number was 0G361266, then it would show up as a 150EFI..

my bad - your right - i had that stupid B that was mistaken for an 8 in my head and was looking up the serial starting with #8 - it really does look like an 8 though and no matter how many times ilook at mine i have to remind myself its a B - B DAMMIT - LOL

Easy mistake to make. People aren't expecting a letter in among a bunch of digits. You'd be surprised how many times B gets taken as 8, and C/D get taken as 0, and G can be either an 8 or a 0. For people not familiar with Merc's numbering system it's easy to get caught out...
