I hope you can open these photo's of my new boat. It's aluminum, 14.5' long and 5' at its widest. It has a cool rocket shaped cleat on the bow and what I think are original windshields. It also has what looks like a shadow of where a windshield was on the front seating area. Could it have had a windshield there too ? On the transom, in the upper left outside is only six numbers ( 340294 ).
Thanks for your help, Mark
P.S. These are bmp photo files from my cheap camera

I suspect there was a windshield on the front cockpit (@the shadow line), and no windshield in it's current location.

Nice boat, best of luck finding it's pedigree.

I agree with jb, windshields were added and front removed. You mention a rocket shape bow cleat, but don't show a picture?

What does the title or registration say?

This may not be it but it's close, I'm thinking.

Re: What year and make aluminum boat do I have ?

Ok,
With your help , it looks like I have a 1957 ( or so ) Lonestar 14' Malibu . Thanks very much for the help.
Now, I have available a late 50's Johnson 35 with great compression at a good deal. I did want a later year for reliability but now I'm thinking about a period accurate motor . It would look great but how would it compare to a later year engine ? What about tune ups and maintenance and performance ? Would this be much of a headache to have an older but, reliable motor ? The only other motor I have is a long shaft 86 Evinrude 35hp that I know will be depenable but with the long shaft I'll have to raise up about 5'' and still have a little too much length in the water.
So, with the choice of what I think will be a more dependable motor but a little awkward looking or, better looking and fitting but, something I think I'll have to tinker with most every time I go out. What's your opinion ?
Thanks for your help. Mark

I'd go with the Period Correct 35 Hp. as long as it has good compression. You can get all the parts for it still and they are very dependable motors once they have been restored and tuned up. I have a 1962 and she runs like a new one. Cost me $300 bucks to get her rebuilt with all new parts. Is yours a manual or electric shift?

1+ on the late 50's motor. Most parts are easy to find. If the compression is good they will run like a swiss watch. I have a 57' 18hp that needed a complete renovation and it cost about $175 for all the parts, head gasket, coils, condensers, points, LU seal kit, copper wire, fuel lines and misc. seals.

That motor will look awesome on your Lone * Star.:D
