I was at a dealer the other day and he had this 19' 1991 Bass Cat Pantera II. I thought it would make a good project but the dealer wanted $1200 and that included the trailer. I'm sure the cap would have to come off the everything gutted. Looks like it's been sitting a while. What do you think it's worth?

Re: What Would You Pay For This Project?

I bought a project boat recently. I has a nice running motor and trailer. I paid $600. Granted, its a 77 Skeeter. The boat he is asking for needs work plus it doesn't have a motor.......I'd say no more than $800 to $900 and thats pushing it. If it has been sitting awhile there is a reason for it. What do you feel like paying him? Make than man an offer, money talks!! Its hard to walk away from 8 crispy ones!!!:D Good luck

I'd say the value of the trailer, plus $300 because it has all the gauges and controls, and that is worth a few bucks. But $1200 is way out of line, especially as it does not even look good. Rotten carpet, upholstery, and faded gel coat means a big and expensive restore. And unless you are good at upholstery work, those seats are going to cost a lot to have re-upholstered.

I have given away nicer boats just to get them out of my yard. Not worth much.

It's not even a galvanized trailer. I'd say $300 at most.

I agree with ezmobee. Look on CL at boats that are listed for $1200.00 and you will see you get A LOT more boat, most even come with a motor that might even run.

The swim ladder has been yanked off the back and knarled up so they have definitely hit something or something hit them. You would be doing transom work, which means the cap would be coming off.

You live in bass boat country. I think a nice easily restored bass boat would be a dime a dozen there.

Why does it need to be galvanized for fresh water? That is a angle steel trailer, so no where for the rust to hide. Beside, it looks like it has very minimal rust to it anyway.

Granted, $1200 is WAY out of the question, but i do think the trailer would be worth $400-$500. (at least here in washington it would be:D)

Never said it did. But galv trailers do have a higher resale than non-galv ones that need a paint jobs. That was my only point.

Gotcha. Good point, The galv trailer do have a much better resale value. I guess i just don't mind the steel trailer cause i can pick them up cheap.
