What would you pay for a parts motor

That answer is going to be all over the ball park. For instance, a locked up motor that's covered in corrosion isn't going to be worth nearly what a clean motor that hasn't been run in a while is worth.....

Picked up a 1963 Evinrude 10 HP the other day for $75 CA.--Not stuck.---Inside of cowling was very clean.----Quick inspection through flywheel hole found coils cracked.-----To me it suggests a very low hrs motor.-----Found some one had struggled with alignment on throttle handle.-----Took about 15 minutes to determine that the 11 year old grandson and myself can get it running like new this summer.-----Have always had new coils on hand here.-----Found a 1997 model 15 HP Suzuki for a box of refreshments at a shop.-----9.9 OMC motors can be found for less than $100 as the cost of labour to do simple repairs puts them on the parts heap.

as boomers get older... give up on their favorite sport and the x & y's don't care about sitting hours fishing without their fingers punching away their lives on facebook, instagram etc.... a lot of 30-40-50 old perfectly good motors sit in the sheds till the great reaper comes with engines migrating out to craiglist,, kijiji....

. ....shop shop around and be patient ..

If I needed the parts I would be willing to pay more. If you had a long shaft and wanted to convert to a short just the driveshaft used is around a 125 on ebay. Parts motor has a good prop its a bonus. Lots of usable parts that will go from one to another. In other words I would go $25 to $300 depending what I needed.

A lot of guys would be willing to pay top dollar for a "parts" motor that has electric start too....

I got one of those, a 73 model in the Home Depot parking lot for free. Was in amongst a trailer load of outboards headed to the scrap yard. After cleaning carbs and replacing coils, runs perfect. A low hour motor. I had several I didn't need one time I put on Craig's list for free and no one wanted them. Dad sold them for scrap. Now I wish I had them back, ha ha.

Older motors are simple and can be repaired at home by someone with basic skills and a few tools.------The grandson already has a 1963 model 10 HP.-----He started it ( warmed up ) when he was 8 years old.----Might give him the 10 HP Evinrude too.
