Hey guys, I'm new to posting but have been lurking for a while, really love the site. We just bought a '86 Wellcraft 18' center console. It's in pretty good shape but there is a storage compartment in the bow of the boat that has an old "weathered" wooden door. I'd like to build a nicer looking replacement and am wondering what type of wood i should use and where to find it? Also what type of finish should i use? It will be stored inside all the time. I have experience with fiberglass but am also curious about a varnish type sealant. Any thoughts? I appreciate it, Eric

That might be teak, it tends to bleach out after a while but restores nicely with very little work. Wellcraft makes nice boats so I'd expect it to be hardwood of some type.

Is there a picture we can look at? May want to use starboard if it is not teak.
