We only keep about a fifth of the fish we catch and once we've got enough to have a family feed we put away the rods and go water skiing instead. The others (undersize, protected or not a favoured flavour with the boys, eg leatherjacket) I return with as little damage as possible. I also kill mosquitos, flies and cockroaches around the house but leave the majority of spiders alone as they help with the aforementioned lil critters. The biggest problem we have here in the Sydney area is feral cats... they eat all the native marsupial mice, native birds etc so if I had a gun I'd certainly shoot any feral I saw, but I haven't a gun so I can't!

Considering the results of the poll so far I am rethinking my position on gun control. Right now I would only feel safe around Triton and Bassy, maybe James Coste and Gary H. I am pretty sure that Serenity is OK too, but as they say, you can't be too careful . . .

Too bad the dinosaurs are gone , I'd be hunting them to! <br /><br />If I'm hungry, then I'll do what I have to do to eat. If my garden is under attack by wildlife, I attack them to protect my veggies. If my family is in danger, you bet I will do what needs done.

I better keep my mouth shut,it all depeands on the situation I've been known..well never mind one rule when hunting dont kill it unless your willing to eat it,and if you point a gun at something or someone shoot to kill.Thats what learned growing up.

For what ever reason i can kill fish with no problem BUT dont seem to have it in me to shoot a land animal other than self defence<br /><br /><br />tommays

Growing up on a farm / ranch out west it was pretty much standard procedure to kill harmful critters like coyotes and an occasional bobcat. We did our fair share of keeping the prarie dog population in check.Since I've been gone from there for years and years I've gotten "citified". I still hunt deer but don't really want to shoot one, I just enjoy getting out. I keep a fish now and then and I will kill a critter that gets to close to the house or dog. I never liked to kill things but never thought much of it but now I really don't like it. Don't worry QC, you're safe from me.

Respect for life (of any kind) comes with age, I have noticed, Rarely do I find a blood lust game hog, of any advanced age.

It's probably a mistake, but I am curious about who the one person is that would kill a fish, but not a bug <br /><br />It was nice to see that I have risen above local carnivores overnight. Ya know, kinda like golf, the lowest score wins "in game of life" . . .
