I keep my boat in the garage all summer and being my tank inside (garage or shed) in the winter. I’ll be curious how long it lasts

Being out of the sun and keeping the pressure from building are the keys !! You should get at least 10 years and Maby longer !! I have had them for 20 yrs in ideal conditions

I would take a good metal tank over the new plastic tanks any day. The older medal tanks in my area go for big bucks. Usually around $150 but they are so nice and were made very well.
Okay, Tim....

Now I know how to pay you back, steel OMC tanks around this place are a dime a dozen and I've probably got a dozen.

How many would you like?

Around the Pacific Northwest, I'm using them in the salt the outsides rust like hell. If you abuse them the inside rust that's for sure.

Do I like them? I got quite a few I mainly use the three gallon ones for all my Kickers and whatnot.... Otherwise I have all the plastics ones and I'm not even sure how many I have.

Let me know there Mr Tim Tim! 😆😝

Gee, I have a Moeller plastic 6 gal fuel tank I bought in 1985 or so. I left it in the weather for decades. It is a bit discolored but works fine. It doesn't leak, which is rare for those cheapos. I thought about spray painting it red again, as it is kinda blotchy.

The new EPA plastic boat tank i bought was a 12 gallon tank, they dont vent to the atmosphere.
They only let air in when you open cap valve.
Just read the tanks description before buying a plastic tank.
Mine would swell up about an inch in all directions with the cap tight in the sun.
The cap actually blew off trailering the boat and when i got to the ramp i found out the cap blew off , cap nowhere to be found and gas was everywhere in the boat!
Do some research before buying a plastic tank.
Best bet buy an old metal one .

I purchased two of these on eBay few years back for my plastic 6 gal tank. The stock cap was awful and would not vent properly due to new “safety” requirements . This cap allows the new tanks to vent properly. Shop around and can get cheaper. Worked for me for my 70’s Johnson’s.
