I am in the process of fixing up an older I/O ski boat and the wooden box that the front of the motor mounted to was rotted all the way through, the only thing carrying the weight was the fiberglass covering the wood.

I have cut everything out and now I am trying to figure out what to replace the mount with as I would like to not add wood if I dont have to.

I have thought of 2 options but I would like some outside feedback.

1) Trex or other composite board cut and stacked like the orig mount and wwrapped/ covered in 6oz Cloth

2)Steel bar spanning between the aft most stringers ,please forgive the crude drawing

stringers on the sides with Steel bar cut, bent, and welded to form a V with a flat bottom to support the engine mount bracket and bolted thru each stringer and the deck inside the engine doghouse

Ill try and find some real pictures of the old mount and post them,

Thanks

Not the greatest Picture but you can see where the front engine mount is located

Best Pic I could find, shows the bracket attached to the motor and the box it sits on that I have cut out due to rot and need to replace
