It will bounce around and mess up your paint job for sure.... mabey even pull the back down into the water....way back in my younger days I saw a guy loose a 50 hp Merc due to bad wood. His clamp on mount just crushed the wood. The chain held it, but needless to say he took on lots of water!!! Also did a lot of cussing and screaming, but lucky for him he was only about 150 yards from the dock!!
