Most folks around here hunt during the winter. I'm all for that. Means less people on the lake. :D The rangers tend to leave you alone too.

Can't blame 'em. Who would want to launch a boat just to search a 40,000 acre lake to check one guy's license?

...'cept for you yankees staring at a rock hard lake and a $400 a Mo. boat covered in snow.

I get depressed just thinking about that. Bleh.

spots

We love winter and the cold down here also, Both Weeks. Fishing really picking up on hotwater lakes and light windbreaker makes it nnice.

Bondo ::: That is probably the best ice breaker i have ever seen. :) It looks like it floats a little low in the water. Probably not enough flotation foam. :D :D

I feel your pain. The air is still nice and warm, but the water is down to 70, so you can go to the beach but it's too cold to go swimming.

Believe it or not we say that here. That is why our summers are so comfortable . . . The Pacific is basically cold here. That is the reason most trailer boaters go east to the Colorado River and lakes . . .

Re: what to do in the winter

This is our first year of boating, so we don't know when to stop. It is 45F degrees in the air and water here in Seattle. We just put on our parkas, gloves and goggles and keep going. Our weekends have been nice so far this year. (i.e. no rain)

You want to talk really wacky? While Tuna fishing in the winter it’s not uncommon for the temps at the dock to be below freezing while the temps at the fishing grounds only 15-20 miles offshore are warm enough to fish in short sleeves all day.

Build another boat! :D

I'm building this bathtub racer while I'm drying my boat out and winterizing it....

Come spring I'll have both of these boats in the water!
The bathtub should do about 30-32mph if all goes well.
hopefully the Bayliner will do 35-40mph when I get it back in the water (new prop and lots of TLC!)
