What to do in the bilge?

Howdy all,

I recently sanded the bilge area out and did a bunch of re-glass work to fix some areas there, to the sides and transom. I also moved the bulkhead in front of the engine about 3 inches forward to make a little more room in front of the engine.

I used MAS epoxy and fiberglass to do the job.

I would now like to finish the job by either using something like gray BILGE KOTE or other material to paint the entire bilge area, transom and (inside) back of the boat.

After the final sanding I coated everything with a colored coat of MAS FLAG epoxy. Epoxy doesn't seem to color well so I'd like to use something like Bilge Kote or other thick material in the back.

How about Herculiner? They make it in gray and it comes in a non particulate semi liquid also.

The downside is that it supposedly will soften in higher temps. Has anyone tried it?

Thanks,

Rick

After sanding the glass I painted mine with Interlux Brightsides. I like the clean, easy to see look.

That's a beautiful job!

I am assuming that Brightsides (Like Bilge Kote) is a oil/gasoline resistant and flexible covering.

I wanted something I could brush on but I do have access to an HVLP gun so I could spray it.

Is that a "Stringer" cutout in the back I see there?

(Are you one of those ipsic people?.......There's nothing like a blue cloud of black powder smoke!!

hehe,..... Boomyal's gonna Love this 1,...............

I too like White for a bilge color,.... It makes it Easier to see in,+ If there's Any kind of Leak,..
It's Visible as well.....

I'm in the process of Rebuilding all the hatch,+ engine covers for My Houseboat,.............
aka. "Mom's Paycheck".......
They were originally painted with a thick heavy Splatter Paint,.. White background with light Green Splatters.......
When I get to the point of Painting the bilges,.... I'll be using the Same Paint that I'm using to cover the Inside/Underside of the hatches,......

That would be,...... Ya Ready Boomer,...... White straight out of the gal. can,...........
Rustolium.............................................................:D

Ya know Bond-o, one of the reasons that they say McDonalds was so successful was because where ever you went you could count on consistancy, something familiar, as it were.

You have just validated their theory.:p

Yes, I too love the smell of Black Powder in the morning! The whole firearm schtick used to be an avocation of mine, hence the nom de plume, BOOM, YA'LL!
