Re: What the %$%^ am I doing wrong?
It's just "new jibber-jabber" to you, not over your head jibber jabber.
Just think of url the same as link.

You tried to link to a picture file on a website. Sometimes this does werk, but only when the host (iboats.com, in your the case of your pic) doesn't forbid it. You can allways try. It may even start out werkin, only to roll-over and "red-ecks" in a day or two...

The way you wrote the line was correct.

Now all you need to do when you find a neat pic, is to save the pic to your computer, then havbe a place online to store it.
This could be your ISP, (nternet service provder), like AOL, Earthlink ect.
It could also be another site such as "iboats",which specialises in boats stuff, that specialises in artwerk, such as "pbase" or,"kodak" ,or storing photos. Most of these are subcription only, (like "Rush24-7"specialises in conservative studies).
But some allow a small amount of space for free. What costs online is space or Bandwidth...
Your pic will take up some room somewhere. Even this message takes-up space on iboats....It's why they want you to keep the size of your pic down (100x100 pixels) on your avitar-- to conserve space.

I hope it answers the questions, but if it don't, ask-away. Consider it a classroom, not a stage. The gang here specialise in outboard and marine /fishing/ repair topics, but they might be computer geeks by trade, and like helpin.
And take Dunaruna up on his offer.
