What size Prop

I have a 2000 Bayliner Capri 2150 Open Bow.
305 V8
Alpha 1 Gen 2
It currently has a 14.5 x 19 Prop that must be replaced

Can anyone suggest an all purpose prop?

Usually a 19 or 21P prop is used. How did the 19 perform?

I ran a 21P prop on my 19' Bowrider with a 4.3LX 205HP Alpha drive. It was fine for most stuff. Your boat is likely a bit heavier, but with more power.

What prop you replace it with depends on how the old one performed. What were your WOT RPM's with the old prop, on a typically loaded boat?
What are your motor's recommended WOT RPM's?
Are you looking for whole shot? Top end? Or all around balanced performance?

Like mentioned the 19" pitch you have would fit the definition of an all-purpose prop.

Were you happy with the way it performed? Do you know WOT RPM of that set up? That what you would use to tweak prop pitch of blade configuration. If you don't know that info would just replace what you have with a Black Max or similar prop

I was happy with the performance for the most part. That being said I don't have allot of experience for which to draw on.

Happy performance is relative, for much better water performance ideal would be for the motor to rev around middle to max wot rpm range as loaded depending if like going per a slight better top end speed increase or slight better hole shot.

As Thom W stated need to know the min-max wot rpm range for said motor factory stated, max wot rpm achieved as loaded with shot prop and then decide if going for same new prop or to less pitch props to bump the wot rpm higher towards middle or max wot rpm range, you decide!!

Apart from the obvious (and probably very relevant) answers above…it all depends on you ratio and how she went before…but if you want some real life info from an identical boat, but with a cuddy and a 4.3 with a 1.81 ratio…that has a 19 laser 2 on it and runs well. This may be useless to you if you have a 1.6 ratio though…perhaps further amplifying the need to know more about your situation

Hey QBhoy, for a correct prop maximization where did the : You must know the max wot rpm the motor revved at as currently loaded went flying ? So for you and others as well wot revs means nothing ? It doesn't matter which gear ratio you lower leg counts with, tach the motor right ad install a prop that will allow it to rev towards middle to max of is wot range factory stated and voila, that's the max performance you'll get from whichever prop will finally go for...
