What size fuse for"89 40hp evinrude

Got me a 1970 Boston Whaler with a 89 40 hp Evinrude. The inline fuse that's in the orange or red rubber boot on the motor is corroded badly and can't tell what size it is.It has a tiller with power tilt. Can anyone please help? thanks in advance!

It should be a 20 amp but not a regular old style car fuse. this one is very short.

thanks fm. you are right it does look short (it broke in two) I was gonna put a 40
