Well guys I've been pricing around but I need to know what I should expect to pay for a complete paint job of my 16' skeeter. I'm thinking of going with paint and clear coat for ease of application, comparatively speaking. So tell what ya'll think.

Really depends on the shop, I just painted mine and wouldn't do it for someone else for less than $800 + paint.

Just a gallon of clear and a gallon of paint with reducers ect is around $200.

It is alot of work, the painting is easy and only took about 3 hours but the prep was probably 30+ hours.

Shop around, body shops are hurting too and may give you a killer price just to get some money coming in.

I paid $400 for a shop to spray my 16' speedboat with Awlgrip Polyurethane paint. I did all the prep work, stripped the hardware etc, and sanded it to 400 grit.

You might like to shop around and choose a shop with some boat painting experience. Auto paints are quire different than 2 part poly paint.

Re: What should I pay for a paint job???

Well right now my boat is completely disassembled. I am working on stringer deck rebuild and thought while I have the cap off and everything removed it would be advantagous to have it painted while its light and easy to move around. I think I will do the prep work (sanding, filling holes, removing hardware), but I want the paint done right with a warranty avaliable. Like to have that assuirty when it comes to the asthetics. Was hoping to pay maybe 500 hundred if I can get away with it. Is that unrealistic? Well thanks for the input I will update my decisions and work progress on the "soft deck...unsure" thread.

Prepped and ready to paint you should be able to do for 5oo easy.

The only thing is they may make you sign off on it and won't warranty it since they didn't do the prep.

Too bad your so far away or I would do it for you.

This can vary widely.
I paid $400 for some touch up work on my hydroplane.
The guy I take my stuff to is a perfectionist and not cheap.
But it's done right and will last a very long time.
