Also, in my own ignorance, I ran into a peculiar problem caused by my own<br />misconfiguration. The root name servers have ns.iboats.com listed as the<br />primary name server for all of our domains. However, in the BIND zone<br />files, I was setting the name server for each domain to ns.domain.com - for<br />example, the name server for boatmotors.com was ns.boatmotors.com -Steve@iboats.com

Nothin wrong with maroon Kelton. Were I to attend the A&M UT game, I'd wear maroon. I R an Aggie alum. Your photo shows how decking out in your team's colors can go way wrong. I emailed the photo to my wife asking if it was her UT boyfriend. (yep, I married a tsip)

I'll not levy any punishment since I've done similar and will likely do same in future (not on purpose of course). Best 2 stories...We were training faculty to enter student schedules in a "TEST" database. After 1st class, I was supposed to drop schedules entered before 2nd class. Yep! I dropped the "real live" schedules. Me and my co-workers had to key in 300+ schedules. Second story, my boss wrote a short script to delete all files in a temporary directory on a Unix system. Problem his, he messed up the "cd" statement or something and it started deleting at the root level. Unix does uncool things when you start deleting files in the bin directory.<br /><br />So, Steve, look at it as a learning oppurtunity.<br /><br />HA...just kidding...be nice to someone for such a dumb mistake...I think he should be forced to listen to the story about the blonde with the Bayliner that won't plane at least 1000 times.<br /><br />BL...

Man he really screwed up this time. Reality shows are too good for him (I kinda like some of em), he should have to watch endless shows of Judge Judy, Oprah, and every soap on tv for 27 days. He should have to serve Martha Stewart as a deck hand on her boat for 27 days also. When he is done with this a contest should be held and the winner will have steve as a boathand for 27 more days, doing endless chores on his boat his buddies boat and his ex-wifes boat too. That'll teach him, especially Martha!

I'd make him do daily, manual backups. That is with a pen and a big stack of paper.<br /><br />How about putting a post on the forums login page that tells about having to re-register. I only got to read about having to re-register after I already had.

I think a little disaster preparedness exercise would be well recomended for Stevee, perhaps bringing up a major cleints system offsite, and move it to a gov. regulated site (to test its integrity). Only 6 or 7 thousand tapes. Your drives are 3480 reel, 3490 tape, 3494 disk, atl, vts, lsm. LSM look like bee hives, robotic. Just to make things fun you get to devide your OS390 mainframe box into 2 parts, a sysplex, or 2 lpars, the processor thinks its 2. Oh and IPL 1 lpar with a stand alone dump, and make sure the other lpar recovers. Bring up your consoles, drives, printers and all other hardware. Get with the comm group, network, cics, db2, vtam people and fire it up. You have 2 days of batch processing to do and your tape operations people (tape apes) didnt make it, so you must mount them yourself!!!<br /><br /> Steve and Jesus are editing their programs on TSO when the system crashes. Who lost their files? <br />Steve. (Because Jesus Saves)<br /><br />
