A VW bug hood makes a great tow behind sled in good snow and ice covered roads, 70s Ford-pickup hood, w a small mattress, rides 6 or more!!. Ford pinto is the best though for high speed and an exciteing ride, just be sure and watch out for ditches, mailboxes and trees, and bail out before you hit them!.

Saw a guy "skiing" one a sheet of plywood with a lawn chair strapped to it, actually looked kind of fun.

I've been unsuccessful on a 2x6 ... but it was lots of fun trying. I've seen others run on a 2x4 though ... fun to watch.

Cruising along with friends last season about 150' from shore eyeing the cottages. (Cheap ones are a million bucks). Came upon one where a bunch of teens of both sexes, 18-19 yrs. old, were taking turns jumping from the peak of the boat house (about 25'), in the buff. They were having fun until a couple of the guys landed feet first without keeping their legs together. YEEEEOOW

seen a guy load his boat up and get ready to leave the launch, outdrive all the way down, no safety chain attached, took off, got the boat 1/2 way out and slipped off the trailer busting off the outdrive,

watched a guy during combat fishing troll right into the channel wall crushing his hull

we used to strap a throw cushion on our chest and hold onto a skii rope, was fun till you bounce on a wave. ha

a retarded friend of mine was trolling around some white fish nets, downriggers tangled and ripped off the mounts never to be seen again

Re: What odd things have you seen people doing with their boat?

i was out fishing on the rock river, when i was on the way home i see three kids in a old tri hull with no motor floating down the river. They were all screaming and waving me and my buddy over so we went over to see what the deal was. Apearently this boat had just been pushed off by someone who didnt want it anymore seeing as how all the serial numbers were gone, no motor and it was nothing but a shell. so these kids find this boat floating and decided to get in it because obviously being in a boat is better than being on tubes. they lost the tubes and boat started taking on water and was sinking fast . i got them all in my boat and towed the boat to the bank.

Another good one...

In my lake we have channel markers in the more shallow areas where the river turns to lake. It's fun to see the out of towners blasting through an area that's maybe 2 feet deep when the lake is at normal pool. About 10 years ago I saw a very nice go-fast screaming through the channel markers and right over the old roadbed. Two engines WOT: VRRRRRRRRRR......stopped dead when the outdrives ripped through the asphalt and there he was in 6 inches of water teetering from side to side.

Same road on the other side of the lake I saw a nice used 16 foot Bayliner (that I was trying to buy) on it's maiden voyage. They launched and took off through the markers..."Hmm, I wonder what these green and red floaty thingies are?"....right acrossed the old road. The passenger sitting in the bow was ejected and flew about 50 feet when the boat stopped dead, got up and walked through 6 inches of water to their new stranded, destroyed boat in less than 5 minutes on the water.

Re: What odd things have you seen people doing with their boat?

One time at a launch ramp on the Colorado River years ago, we pulled up to take out and there was about 4-5 drunk guys in this little 15' circa 1950 something boat in need of some major work, already taking out on the ramp. We waited until they were done taking their 20 min to get their boat out, all the while trying to start something with us by making all kinds of remarks aimed at us and drinking, etc. If they looked over at us and we happened to be looking we got the 'ol showdown look and they would go slower...etc.

Well, when they finally pulled out they got about 100 feet from the ramp, parallel to where we were and the boat slid off the back of the trailer and onto it's side with 4 of the idiots in it. At that point they knew the joke was on them so they gave in, popped open another beer and were laughing along with us as they sat there in their little boat, rocked up on it's side. I even went over and had a beer with them after we took out. At least they were able to swallow a little pride and laugh at themselves after acting like a bunch of idiots. Luckily they didn't have to drive but another 50 yards to their camp spot.

You realy should have been at the ramp the day a man an wife tried to put in a 30 something cutty carver with a small Toyata 4X4. The ramp is real steep, he is in the boat, twin I/Os trimmed up, winch still hooked, she backs over the break of the ramp and applies the breaks only to be dragged into the lake clear to the windshield. He managed to get the boat started and forgot to trim the I/O's down, Water was flying everywhere, She's screeming nuts he's screeming at her, and nothings happening. My brother finely gets his 3/4 ton 4X4 backed down the ramp and starts to put a BIG chain to the Little Toy, when the woman starts screeming a him to not hurt her little car. Needles to say bro puts the chain back in his truck and back to the lot he goes. Needless to say this went on for over a hour till a tow truck showed up and drug the whole mess out and to the lot. The guy kept the boat running and pushing up the ramp as she wouldn't get out of the Toy. Up in the lot they get the tow driver to unhook the Toy and put the boat back in the lake for them. They took off in the boat never to be seen again. After a week or better a tow truck picked up the Toy and trailor.

It must have been a h--l of a ride to the ramp, cause the tow driver said he had to take it to Clarksville, Tn. and the ramp is over 60 miles from there.

Just goes to prove some people shouldn't br==d.

Been there done that. I commercial fished the west coast of Canada for a few years. More the adventure and less the "making a living". At least that's what i tell myself now that I am on to more greener pastures :)

Re: What odd things have you seen people doing with their boat?

I was joking ofcourse when I commented. I know most comm. fishing is a hard, dangerous job on any coast. I believe it was easier to make money years ago, before all the complex regulations and competition that seems to be prevalant now. I had the pleasure of helping w shrimping and running crabpots a few times on a small vessel on our coast years ago. It was fun to me then, and I enjoyed seeing fish and other creatures i've never seen again. I was paid w seafood, and that was fine w me!! I would go again if I could.

idk if its the correct term to use a rocket launcher? but its just a rod holder, i will try and get some pics at our next tournament but that wont be till may 7th 2012.

it looks similar to this but has more rod holder going up the sides. to me its just not very structurally strong enough to make out of pvc pipe. a lot of force dragging 6 rods in the water plus if you hook up with a 20 lb salmon or a fishing net seems like it would break to me

At Bodega Bay, Ca this guy pulls this boat out with his dually pickup. As you can see, he didn't get far from the ramp. Funniest site ever.

look how the trailer is lifting up the truck.

looks like a home-made trailer. It's certainly too big a boat to trailer often.

When I lived in Panama City Florida I watched a guy with a mustang saleen and two matching jet ski's send his whole rig into the ocean because he was busy laughing at my 1965 fabulglass run about, as I launched beside him. Karma was great that day!!!
