I was out on the water last weekend and all of a sudden when I pushed the throttle forward from 1/2 open towards wot the engine just bogged down and quit. When I pulled throttle back to neutral it started up again. It did this at least 5 or 6 x's. I took it to the shop and the mechanic said he didn't have any idea as to why it happened so here I sit with many many????????
Motor is a 4.3 OMC v6 chev 4bbl with cobral I/O. I have ran a couple of tanks of gas threw it this year without a single problem, even ran it wot serveral times with out a this happening. I am lost as to what is going on! Anyone ever run into this and what did you do to fix it?

Re: What NOW???

No just had the mechanic call me and he said that the tank was clean, no water or crud in it. BUT he did say that there is a back flow valve that was stuck almost closed because of spiders etc. Does that sound right to you?
Going to change all the filters while he is in there anyways. It doesn't hurt to do it.

I'd check fuel filter / pump. It sounds like you didn't get enough gas at WOT maybe.

Not to sure what the mechanic ment by what he said but I feel that spiders would NOT get into it but rather dirt and stuff sounds more like it. I have not had a chance to get it out as of yet because I am dealing with getting my mother into and settled in a retirement home. What a job as she is stuborn and does not want to give up her appartment even though 2 docs told her she had to. I will fill you all in when I do get it out.
