what motor do I have?

first time boat owner. cover on motor says it is a 150 but papers says it is a 115. serial number on engine block is 3629478 and serial number on part that mounts on transom is 4256880. Can anybody tell me what kind of moter it is that I have? I do know that it is an inline 6.

I forgot to say that it is a mercury and i beleive it is a 73.

I would wager a guess that you have an 1150 which is a 115 in-line 6. The serial number you have is consistant with a 73 model. Some extra info can be found here about it.<br /><br /> http://www.oldmercs.com/197073merc1150.htm
