Well when you search that serial number, it does come up as a 9.8, but if you are sure its a 200hp carb (which is easily distinguishable from a 9.8), this chart shows that it may be a 1984 200hp.

Thx! The boat is am 87, so 84 power head isn't far off. Its defiantly a 6 cyl. and says v200 on the flywheel cover. The SN tag on the transom mount comes back as a 94 200 XRI. So... someone back in the day put an 84 powerhead on a newer 94 lower....
