What kind of wood for transom

I just pulled the old and rotten wood from my transom.What a job that was.The boat is a 16 foot Blue Fin and its a 1978.By the looks of it,It was never has been replaced.I want it to last just as long as the old wood did so what new wood should I use.I guess I could go to Lowes and buy there best ext.plywood.I also need to make it 1 1/2'' Thick Thanks for your advise.

3/4" exterior plywood (NOT Pressure treated!)

You will have to cut the transom board twice and laminate the two sheets together. Gorilla glue, screws and clamps to hold it until dry will work.

Once you have your new transom laminated you will need to seal it all up with some resin and some csm at least.
