When I retired I treated myself to a Shimano Stella. (freshwater). It has to be the finest reel I've ever used. I can't believe how much they have gone up since I got mine.

I absolutely LOVE my custom made Laguna. It even has "LadyFish" on it and it has pink on it too. LOL

My throw down rod is a Penn that I've had just about rebuilt and its 30 years old.

I've owned, Diawa, Shimano, Mitchells, Garcia,(I know Mitchel/Garcia) Pflueger (think I spelled that right), Penn and even Zebco.....never had any "problems" with any of them. I currently fish with Shimano and my newest is a Johnny Morris series from bass pro shops. I don't use any of the fancy cast controls knobs as I learned to cast long before those things came out, so really I like one about as well as the other. Now when it comes to rods....I've caught tons of bass and won plenty of tournaments and I can't tell a cheap medium action from a high dollar one, I've owned both. I try to buy good reels that have a good free spin spool and they cheapest rod I can find.
