Just bought a 1985 Skeeter F80 Strada. It's 15 foot underpowered with a 50HP Evinrude.. It gets me in the water... Working on smoothing out the problem with the motor right now... Thanks to J.B. Cornwell and Clanton...

24ft Mako with twin 115 Johnsons, 20ft SandPiper Pontoon with 70 Johnson, 18ft Thunderbird Formula with 165 Mercruiser I/O, and a couple John boats and Canoes. Pontoon is by far most pleasurable.
Personal observance after about 40 years of being around water and boats; (Boats are like women and swimming pools, the best one I was ever in belonged to someone else). More fun and a lot less expensive than my own.

Keep the Bait in the Slick.

Re: What kind of boat(s) do you own?

My first boat was a Glastron Aqualift with a manual start Merc. 50. Motor fell of transom.
Then I bought a Bayliner (sunk it).
Next was a 42' Carver Aftcabin with twin 454. Only boat I named, "Moneyhole".
Presently I own a 18'76 Starcraft with a Evinrude 150 hung on it, restoration in process. (gonna float it today for the first time. If I forget the plug or anything else, you will read about it in the stupid things post) and a 15' 73 Sea Devil bassboat with a 35 Evinrude just completed restoration. The bassboat is for sale.

Re: What kind of boat(s) do you own?

Couple months ago I was in a Grady 204c W/A with a 98 Evinrude 150. She was a tough old boat but rode wet in the ocean. Found and 1988 23' Winner W/A with twin 140 Johnsons. Has all the goodies like hydraulic steering and trim tabs. Been very good boat so far, rides dry in waters to 5 feet. Only complaint is fuel economy really seems poor. Last two trips offshore where basically chunking trips for tuna with very little trolling and found fuel averaged 1 mile per gallon or slightly less.

I saw two of you fellows, "droMac" and "wesal1" both have twins on similar size boats. One a lot bigger and one a little smaller. How do you guys fair on fuel? Anyone else with twins, I would love to hear.

Re: What kind of boat(s) do you own?

My boat rig has been good to me:

1967 16 foot double eagle
1989 55hp suzuki manual start commercial outboard
1989 6hp johnson kicker.

Double Eagle's a Canadian built boat - they still made much the same hull today -- a big deep v. Great boat for salt water and the manual start motor is great because I use it a way up the coast where jump starts can be hard to come by. It looks normal but underneath it is a loud obnoxious 2 cylinder motor designed to go on back of herring skiffs -- the tiller's been removed.

Re: What kind of boat(s) do you own?

Purchased my first boat in 1980...had no wife, no house, no kids...just my El Camino pull it. I was in heaven..

1980 18'Beachcraft Mako Cuddy w/ 305 ci MerCruiser 1

Recently finished a 3.5 year complete restoration (don't ask me why) which included upgrading to a 350. She's in excellent shape...looks very nice...goes like he11...but still rides like crap. Lousy hull design.

My second boat is a 1994 14 ft. Klamath aluminum v-hull powered by a 1994 Johnson 15 hp. My kids and I love that boat...

Walt
